I had this beer about a month before this tasting at Fremont, however it was on nitro.I was blown away by how much I enjoyed the nitro, being that I usually feel that nitro adds a little too much thickness/muting on a beer, and really doesn’t allow you to truly get into the nitty-gritty complexity of the beer itself. This pours a midnight black, with a small amber head, that dissipates, leaving a cola-like color lace around the glass. The beer gives off a strong aroma of toffee, caramel, cinnamon, with bourbon notes. The taste is an unbelievably balanced BA Stout. Compared to Prop 2014, which was a complete overpowering cinnamon bomb, this was much more well-balanced. The coffee presents itself, but is not upfront, or bitter like most coffee beers, possibly due to the Barrel. Regardless, everything molds together perfectly, creating an even better beer than the nitro version (98/100).
